We buy direct from the World's best manufacturers so are able to control our quality from the outset to the final product. All our street base engine builds undergo the same maticulous preparation and build quality as out high end race motors. There is only one way to do the job at SQP and that is right way. All measuring is done in house using our Mitutoyo micrometers and gauges. This allows us to keep our clearances where WE know works for reliability. We don't just clean and assemble pre machined supplied parts. There is more to engine building than a flash assembly room. Ask to see this measuring equipment when choosing your builder BEFORE you get a job done. Why buy overseas built by someone you can't meet when you get the highest possible standards in your home town? All our engines are dummy assembled for deck height checking as this is a critical area to maintain equal compression ratios over all the cylinders. Make sure you are buying a blueprinted engine not one built from guesses.
The LS3 is an exceptional platform to base your stroker build from. It offers incredible bang for the $$ value making the most of the awesome LS3 rectangle port head with lightweight intake valves and high flow intake manifold via the 4.065" bore and are truly our favourite combination based on $$/hp. The 40lb injectors as fitted standard will support to 500rwhp. At SQP we base the build off a Callies Compstar 4340 crankshaft with Compstar H beam conrods. We torque plate hone the block to the first available oversize to true the bores for ovality and taper. Some other companies offer 418 packages but this requires taking the block to the max oversize and leaves nothing for future freshens. We typically don't cam our stroker build overly aggressive as the point of the build is low to mid range power. Big cams negate the strong midrange that us V8 owners love. Power output ranges from 460-510+rwhp depending on camshaft choice and cylinder head combo. "But I can get that from a cam only" we hear regularly. Our back to back tests on the dyno show the real story and once the 416 is driven, the original comment is long forgotten....boiled lollies compared to chocolates!!!
